Funeral Services for 82 year old LaVerne R. Peabody of Ekalaka are 11:00 a. m. Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the Ekalaka Bible Church with Pastor Wallace Fox officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaverlodge Cemetery in Ekalaka. LaVerne passed away Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka. She was born August 26, 1922 at Newberry Hill in Carter County, the daughter of Fredrick and Wilima (Reichert) Speiser. She lived on the family farm at Newberry Hill until the age of 10 when she moved to Missouri with an aunt. She attended school there for a few years and then met her parents in New York where she went to school and they lived for a few years. She was married to William Moll and a son, Robert was born to this union. LaVerne returned to Ekalaka where she worked at the New Life and Old Stand restaurants. She met Elvin ?Tuffy? Peabody and they were married on October 11, 1944 at Ekalaka. Three children were born to this union: Ronald, Roger and Sherry. Together LaVerne and Tuffy worked and raised their children on their ranch in the Ekalaka Hills. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and raising small animals. LaVerne had a special love for babies and all baby animals. Survivors include her husband, Elvin ?Tuffy? Peabody of Ekalaka; two sons, Bob (Sharon) Moll of Seattle, WA and Ronald Peabody of Ekalaka; a daughter, Sherry (Kenneth) Staneart of Ekalaka; a brother, Dick Hartig of New York; a sister, Joy Lambert of California; six grandchildren: Rhonda Dietz, Nebraska, Pamela Harrison, Nevada, Connie Hamilton, Charlie Ingram, Warnie Ingram and Angela Hamilton all of Oklahoma; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roger ?Bing? Peabody; a brother, Bill Hartig and a grandson, Ronald Ingram, a daughter-in-law Genelle Peabody.
