Mass of Christian burial for Lawrence Sanders, 89 of Dickinson is 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson, with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Interment will follow in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, from 9:00 a. m. until 10:00 a. m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Lawrence passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Lawrence was born September 23, 1915 at Zenith, ND, the son of Theodore and Bernadina Van Uden Sanders. He grew up, attended grade school at Zenith, and graduated from Bowman High School. Lawrence attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton and studied electronics and appliance repair. In April of 1943, he entered the US Navy where he served in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on October 21, 1944. Lawrence returned to Dickinson where he worked at Bogner?s Appliance, Gambles and Montgomery Ward. On September 22, 1953, he was married to Emma Dvorak at Dickinson. He semi-retired and began working at Jefferson School as the custodian. Lawrence and Emma continued to make Dickinson their home. Throughout the years, Lawrence could always be counted on to fix anything electrical. He enjoyed music and played in the old time bands for dances and weddings. Lawrence had a passion for ham radios and was a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Amateur Radio Club. He was also a member of the V. F. W. and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. Survivors include: his wife, Emma of Dickinson, ND; three sons: Wayne (Lorna) Sanders of Fargo, ND, Myron (Andrea) Sanders of Portland, OR and Conrad (Donna) Sanders of St. Paul, MN; a daughter, Gayleen (Tom) Frenzel of Dickinson; a sister, Julie Ann Degan of California; seven grandchildren: Scott Sanders of Minneapolis, MN, Mark Sanders of Fargo, ND, Jared Sanders of Portland, OR, Hannah Sanders of St. Paul, MN and Emily, Bethany and Jesse Frenzel of Dickinson, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Ted, Joseph and John Sanders and a sister, Genevieve Hegel. Memorials may be given to St. Benedict?s Emmaus Alzheimer Center, 851 4th Ave E. , Dickinson, ND 58601.
