Funeral Mass for Lawrence Andrew Karsky, 69 of Dickinson will be 1:00 p. m. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Austin Vetter celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick?s Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Lawrence passed away May 1, 2005 at Carson, ND. He was born December 1, 1935 at Dickinson, the son of Louis and Agnes (Ridl) Karsky. He grew up and attended schools in Dickinson, graduating from Model High School in 1954. He attended Dickinson State University and received a Bachelor Degree in Teaching. He continued his education at the University of North Dakota where he received his Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling. Lawrence enlisted in the National Guard and served with the Dickinson Guard until 1962. He was married to Elaine Haag at New Hradec on May 29, 1958. Lawrence?s love was in education. His teaching and administration career spanned more than forty years and took him to many different schools in North Dakota and Wisconsin. In 1990 Lawrence retired and continued to make the Dickinson area his home. At an early age he played in various bands to help support himself during school. He continued to play for many years. Some of the bands included Vic Schmidt, Chuck Kadrmas, Mark Herauf and several others in the area. He loved music as well as keeping up with college and professional sports. Lawrence was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony?s Club and St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Dickinson; a son, Mark Karsky of Bozeman, MT; two daughters: Sheryl (Rick) Marsh of Dickinson and Julie Herz (special friend, Lloyd Terry) of Grand Forks, ND; two brothers: Raymond (Darlene) Karsky of Dickinson and Alvin (Patty) of Minot; two sisters: Martha Koppinger of Dickinson and Judy (Lyle) Hamann of Phoenix, AZ and seven grandchildren: Brian, Jon, Paul, Michael and Nate Marsh, Jenna Jablonsky and Jordan Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Richard and David Karsky and a brother-in-law, Adam Koppinger. Memorials may be given to Trinity High School.
