Funeral Mass for Lena Kaufman, 94, of Dickinson will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at the St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick?s Cemetery Dickinson. A Rosary & Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will begin from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, continuing on Friday from 8 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home. Lena passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Lena was born August 13, 1913, the daughter of John and Eva (Raschko) Cherney near Lefor, ND. She grew up and attended rural country school in the Lefor area. Lena was married to Michael Kaufman on October 26, 1931, in the St. Elizabeth?s Catholic Church in Lefor. Together, they farmed, ranched and raised their daughter, Bernice. In 1946, they moved into Dickinson where Lena has lived since. She worked at St. Joseph?s Hospital and at a local bakery before going to work for Green Drug in the gift department, where she worked for many years. Lena enjoyed crafts of all types especially embroidery, dollies, afghans and quilting. Lena also liked to play cards, visit with friends and listen to old time music. She was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church of Dickinson. Survivors include, her daughter, Bernice Gyolai, New England, seven grandsons, Dale Gyolai, Knoxville, IA, Allan (Marcia) Gyolai, Phoenix, AZ, Dennis (Judy) Gyolai, Egan, MN, David (Patti) Gyolai, Cape Code, MA, Gary (Kelly) Gyolai, San Antonio, TX, Myron (Kathleen) Gyolai, Oakland, CA and Kevin (Kristine) Gyolai, Fergus Falls, MN; sixteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael; son-in-law, John Gyolai an infant son, Clarence; a brother, Frank Cherney; a sister, Eva Cherney and a great grandson.
