Funeral Mass for Lena Schafer of Dickinson, ND will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, June 2, 2016, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson, with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will be 3:00 p. m. , CDT, Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Visitation will be from 3:00 p . m. to 8:00 p. m. , Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Stevenson Funeral Home, with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Lena passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Health Center. Lena Reinbold was born April 30, 1930 in Haymarsh, ND to Simon and Elizabeth (Kaip) Reinbold. She attended country school north of Hebron, ND through the 1st grade. She then attended 2nd thru 8th grade in Hebron, graduating from Hebron High School in 1948. She worked at various jobs before attending Dickinson State Teachers College. Lena received her teaching degree and then taught in country schools. On January 5, 1953, she and Leo J. “Curly” Schafer were united in marriage at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hebron, ND. Together, they made Dickinson their home and Lena worked at Ward Johnson (Ford Garage), The Gold Bond Stamp Store and also did Food Demos at King’s Super Value. Lena enjoyed crafts and making feather pictures from pheasant feathers. She was a member of Catholic Daughter (50 yrs. ); Hospital Auxiliary, Volunteered at St. Benedicts Nursing Home, St. Joseph Hospital and the Wellness Center. She is survived by her sons, Kent “Punk” Schafer, Dickinson, ND; Kyle (RaeLynn) Schafer, Dickinson, ND; three grandchildren, Justin, Sarah and Chris; seven great grandchildren, Khloe, Khara, Lucy, Ryan, Camara, Karter and Kyle; brothers, Joey (Donna) Reinbold, Hebron, ND and Roger (Laverne) Reinbold, Bismarck, ND; sisters, Agnes Kitzan, Bowman, ND and Irene Reidlinger, Glendive, MT. Lena is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Leo “Curly”; sons, Kurt and Kelly; brothers, Simon, Marvin, Leo and John.
