Funeral Services for Lena Wanner, 88, of Dickinson, ND, will be 2:00 p. m. , Friday, July 23, 2010, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick?s Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. , Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, continuing from 5:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 23, 2010, from 9:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Lena passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Lena Wanner was born August 11, 1921, to Andrew and Josephine (Reiter) Dietz at Sheffield, ND. She grew up on a farm south of Belfield and attended school there. After graduating from Belfield High School, she received her teaching certificate from Dickinson State Teachers College. She taught at various schools throughout the region, including Regent, Lefor, Lincoln, Iota Country School, and St. Joseph?s and St. Patrick?s in Dickinson. Lena married Joseph N. Wanner on September 12, 1944. The couple made their home on the family farm north of Gladstone. It was here where they raised their family of five children. Lena retired from teaching to help more on the family farm/ranch. She moved to Dickinson in 1992. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. Lena raised chickens and produce for sale at home. She lived at the Pioneer Haven, Evergreen, and St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Lena is survived by four children, JoLynn Murray, Rifle, CO, Marilyn (Joe) Boyd, Davie, FL, Rodney (Yvetta) Wanner, Rifle, CO, and Rick (Patti, fianc?e) Wanner, Dickinson, ND; nine grandchildren, Richard (Sara) Murray and daughters Kaelyn and Allison, Rifle, CO; Diana and Craig Murray Vardaman of Rifle, CO; Joey and Mary Beth Boyd, daughters Katie and Emma, Raleigh, NC; Christie (Jim) Boyd Hughes, children, J. P. and Emily Plantation, FL; Danille Boyd, children, Kylie and Samantha of Davie, FL; Joey and Jennifer Wanner, children Madison and Maddox, New Castle, CO; Jessie Wanner, Glenwood Springs, CO; Jerri Lynn (Dan) Wanner Openshaw, children, Aylisa and Alia, Spring Cree, NV. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. ; an infant daughter, Jacqulyn; and six brothers, Andrew, Ben, Adam, Tony, George and John.
