Lenora Hellman

Lenora Hellman, 80, of Glen Ullin, died Wednesday, August 20, a resident of Marian Manor Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 10:30 AM Central time at the Sacred Heart Church in Glen Ullin with the Rev. Bill Bradley officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday after 4:00 PM at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday at 9:00 am. Lenora was born December 29, 1927, in Glen Ullin, the daughter of Joseph and Selma (Kinnischtzke) Kottre. She was raised on the farm north of Glen Ullin. She journeyed to Washington to work but returned after a short time to teach country school. She married Ernest Hellman November 15, 1960. Lenora worked in the food service industry for most of her working life from waitressing for the Renner Caf?, to owning and operating the Family Restaurant on Main in Glen Ullin and later the lunch counter at Hellman Oil. Lenora prepared thousands of meals over the years. Along the way she and Ernie raised four children. When they sold the gas station, Lenora worked for Marian Manor as a seamstress in the laundry department. Lenora loved sewing and quilting in her spare time, and making her regionally famous German potato salad. She is survived by her husband, Ernest, Glen Ullin, ND; three sons: David ( Lanette); Bismarck, ND; Darrel ( Tamra), Bismarck, ND; DuWayne, Bismarck, ND; and Dorelee (Steven ) Dixon, Pueblo, CO; six grandchildren Alexis, Alec, and Anthony, Hellman, Breanna Dixon, and Connor and Christopher Hellman. Two brothers: Oliver (Delaine) Kottre and Jerome Kottre, Glen Ullin, and two sisters: Irene Kottre, Glen Ullin, and Kathleen (Richard) Roth, Glen Ullin, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Ivan.
