Funeral Services for Lenora Sayler, 87, of Hebron will be held at 10:00 a.m, CT, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at St. John’s Church in Hebron with Pastor Ling officiating. Burial will follow at the First Congregation Cemetery.
Visitation for Lenora will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. CT, Monday, April 10, 2023 at the church with a prayer service being held at 6:00 p.m, CT.
Lenora was welcomed into the gates of Heaven Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Marian Manor Health Care in Glen Ullin
Lenora was born July 17, 1935 in rural Glen Ullin to Christ and Ida (Flemmer) Voegele. She grew up and was educated in rural Glen Ullin. Lenora married Walter W. Sayler on August 13, 1953 at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Glen Ullin. Following their marriage they moved to Hebron where they raised their family. They had eight children; five living, one stillborn and two miscarriages. Lenora was a member of the First Congregational Church in Hebron. She had many accomplishments with her career as head cook at Hebron Public School for 23 years. Lenora also worked for Green Lantern Café, a co-owner of Brick City Café for 5 years, CNA at Marian Manor, and had an in home daycare for 13 years. She also sold Home Interior designs for over 10 years. She was a member of Guiding Light and the choir at UCC First Congregational Church.
Lenora lived a full life and was a beacon of light for many people. She loved to share her knowledge of baking and cooking with anyone who wanted to learn. Lenora was known as an expert German cook. Her families’ favorites were her strudel and kuchen. Lenora also made delicious caramel rolls and peanut fudge ice cream dessert. She had a love for music and taught herself to play guitar, accordion, and piano. She had a wonderful alto voice and sang in church for years.
Lenora loved decorating for the holidays. She twice won an award for the best decorated house during the Christmas season in Hebron.
Lenora loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She made sure to talk to her grandchildren daily. After suffering from Parkinson’s for years, now it’s time to join her husband, father and mother (who she lost at the age of six.) Rest in peace, mom, we love and miss you.
Lenora is survived by her children, Darlene (Jude) Reilly of Bismarck ND, Ray (Jane) Sayler of Lignite ND, Paul (Sharon) Sayler of Beulah ND, Julius (Sharon) Sayler of Bismarck, LaVonne (Russ) Rebel of Hebron ND; 11 grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Zuroff, Sarah (Andy) Stach, Britny (Derek) Johnson, Michael Reilly, Katie Reilly, Benjamin Potts, Matthew (Tania) Sayler, Kelsey (Tyler) Fode, Kayla (Jared) Larson, Katelynn (Josh) Landis, Kevin (Callie) Rebel; 20 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Braden, Dawson, Kinsey, Brady, Liam, Ariana, Cambri, Caden, Brynley, Raemi, Brielle, Haisley, Bodyn, Jaelyn, Nora, Landon, Kollyn, Everly, Rhyan; siblings, Tillie Martin of Valley City, ND, Delores Hall of Williston ND, and Dan Voegele of Ellendale ND.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Sayler; parents, Christ and Ida Voegele and step-mother Katie Voegele; brothers, Otto, Ray, Rueben, Chris Voegele; sisters, Frieda Kroh, Emma Voegele; and three babies.
