We said good-bye and Jesus took her hand to lead her home to heaven on December 3, 2012.
Mom was truly a gift from God. He sent her to us on Aug. 31, 1929 to Harold and Louise (Funk) Kruger in Richardton, ND. In 1933, they moved south of Marmarth where they raised turkeys and grew vegetables which they peddled in town. They moved into Marmarth when she was seven years old. Mom started school in the second grade, skipping first as her dad had taught her to read and write before she was five years old. She was the eldest of fourteen children, raising most of them until she left home. After graduating from Marmarth High School in 1947, she worked for the Howard Merz family as the hired girl. There she met Perry Thorne from Rhame who was the hired man. Her mother didn’t approve of Perry so she was sent to teach at the Tabor School outside of Dickinson. She met Dorman Kadrmas and they were married in 1948 in Dickinson. Dorman worked as a hired man, and later as welder. He moved the family quite a bit, where ever he could find work. Seven children were born to them and mom did the best she could with what they had. Dorman was a hard worker, sometimes working two jobs to feed his family. They lived in New Hradec, outside of Dickinson for a few years and then moved into Dickinson while Dorman worked in Wyoming on the road from Buffalo to Tensleep. Shortly after moving to Buffalo in 1967, they were divorced. She married Denis King in 1969. He owned and operated Buffalo Car Parts. Mom worked as a nurse’s aide in the nursing home, in Home Health Care, as a bookkeeper for Denis, and for many years in medical records in the hospital. Denis was the joy of her life and she was devastated when he passed away in 1992 of cancer. She reconnected with Perry Thorne and they married in 1994 in Rhame, N. D. They lived in Buffalo for a time, and then moved back to Marmarth. Perry passed away in 2010. Mom battled a disease-like leukemia for many years and at the age of eighty-three ‘Let Go and Let God’. She didn’t grow lavish flowers or luscious gardens; she grew children, eight of them. She enjoyed having her family around and looked forward to the Kruger reunions. She was strong willed, stubborn at times, but beautiful, inside and out. We now have a void in our lives but Mom has left us many, many memories to fill it.
She is preceded in eternal life by her parents, Harold and Louise Kruger; brothers Darel, Gary, Fred, and sisters Sharon and Cookie; husbands Dorman, Denis, and Perry.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Andrea Gail King, Bowman, ND; Zane (Kathy) Kadrmas, Dickinson, ND; Johnel (James) Solberg, Buffalo, WY; Faye Kadrmas (Curt Keller) Colstrip, MT; Delbert Kadrmas, Buffalo, WY; James (Jolyn) Kadrmas, Dickinson, ND; Julie Otto, Phoenix, AZ; Derik (Becky) King, Las Vegas, NV; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
