A Funeral Mass for Leo Skalsky, 89, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Visitation for Leo will be 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Friday, November 8, 2013 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m.
Leo passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson.
Leo was born March 29, 1924 in Blue Grass, ND, the son of Christ and Anna (Goldade) Skalsky. He grew up on the family farm near the Bluegrass area and attended country school in Oliver County. He continued to help on the family farm and during this time he met Lucille Quintus. Leo and Lucille were married on June 15, 1955 at Haymarsh, ND. Together they made their home on their farm south of Beulah. It was here where they raised their son, David and three daughters, Mary, Rita and Joleen. Leo and Lucille spent the next 50 years on the farm. In 2004, they retired and moved to Dickinson. Leo loved his time on the farm. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his early years.
Leo is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughters, Mary (Lenny) Hueske of Richardton, Rita (Warren) McKoon of Paola, KS, Joleen (Les) Praus of Dickinson; son, David (Carol) Skalsky of Bismarck; brother, Clemence Skalsky of Glendive, MT; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Christ; four brothers; six sisters; and one great-grandson.
