A funeral service for Leo Steingrueber, 86, of Hebron, will be held at 1:00 p. m. CST, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. John UCC in Hebron with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation for Leo will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Leo passed away January 21, 2016 with his family by his side at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck. Leo Chris Steingrueber was born June 22, 1929 in Bismarck, ND, the son of George and Caroline (Merkel) Steingrueber. He grew up on the family farm eight miles west of Hebron, attended a rural school house near Hebron, and graduated from Hebron High School in 1949. After graduation, Leo continued to farm with his family. In 1951, Leo met Lorrain Riedlinger at a Farmers Union meeting and the couple was united in marriage on October 17, 1952 in Hebron. To this union four children were born: Terry, Vicky, Scoty, and Nancy. Leo enjoyed woodworking, and after retiring, working in the garden. He was a member of the 4-H Club, was a soundman for the church for many years and served on the St. John Church Council for 16 years. Leo is survived by his wife, Lorrain of Hebron; sons, Terry (Darlene) of Richardton, and Scoty (Sue) of Mandan; daughters, Vicky (Keith) Sass of Pensacola, FL, and Nancy Steingrueber of Dickinson; grandchildren, April, Jesse, Tiffany, and Joshua; and sister, Erma Klein. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Caroline Steingrueber; and a brother-in-law, Ray Klein.
