Leocadia Emmil, 85, of Dickinson passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Hospital. Leocadia was born November 29, 1918 in Stark County, the daughter of Frank and Ida Kuntz Huschka. She grew up and attended country schools in South Heart where the family farmed. She later attended Model High in Dickinson where she graduated. Leocadia received her Teaching Certificate and taught school in the Richardton, Mott and Hettinger areas. On October 8, 1938 Leocadia was married to Peter Emmil at Schefield, ND. They moved to the Emmil Homestead in Schefield where they farmed and started their family. In 1949 they moved to South Heart where they continued to farm and ranch. In 1978 the couple retired and moved to Dickinson where they have made their home since. In Dickinson, Leocadia began working for the Stark County Social Services where she cared for the elderly. She also taught CCD in Dickinson just as she had done previously in South Heart. Leocadia enjoyed bowling and was the team captain of Leo?s Gals bowling team. In 1984 she bowled in the state tournament which she was very proud of. While in South Heart, Leocadia was a member of the St. Mary?s Catholic Church until joining Queen of Peace upon moving to Dickinson. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers. Leocadia enjoyed playing the organ both at home and at church and she also enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Survivors include one son: Gary Emmil of Dickinson; six daughters: Vivian (Fran) Hauck, Rohnert Park, CA, Janice (Bob) Zastoupil, Vancouver, WA, Delores (Dennis) Beaudoin, Dickinson, Doris (Paul) Fettig, Bismarck, ND, Lydia (Bill) Meduna, Dickinson, and Daphne Emmil, Dickinson; 26 grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (Georgia) Huschka, Dickinson; three sisters: Johanna Eberts, and Phillippine (Bob) Kostelecky both of Dickinson, Magdalene (Jesse) Lopez of California; and sister-in-law, Cecilia Huschka. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Peter; two sons, Keith and Larry Emmil; one brother, Nick Huschka; and one sister, Cecilia Wandler.
