A Funeral Mass for Leona Morman, 82, of Glen Ullin, will be 10:00 a. m. CST, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father David Morman and Father Jeffrey Zwack con-celebrating. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation for Leona will be 5:00 p. m. – 7:00 p. m. CST, Sunday, December 22nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. CST. Leona passed away Sunday, December 15th at Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin. Leona Weiand was born June 3, 1931 in Oliver County, the daughter of Nicolaus and Helen (Martin) Weiand. She grew up on the family farm SE of Beulah. Leona attended grade school at Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Glen Ullin High School. After graduation, Leona worked for the Mandan Hospital for a few years. She later met and married Larry Morman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin on October 9, 1950. The couple made their home in Glen Ullin where they raised their four children, Carla, Randy, Kelly and Scott. Leona was an accomplished artist and painted for over 40 years, earning many awards for her oil paintings. Faith was an important part of Leona’s life also. She was very involved with the Christian Mother’s group and she volunteered reading at the nursing home. She loved dancing, especially square dancing with Larry. Leona also found joy in bowling, playing cards (bridge) and cooking. She was a great cook of many fine meals. Leona was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin, Christian Mothers and the Lions Club. Leona is survived by her daughters, Carla (Dale) Mowder of Bismarck and Kelly Glasser of Mandan; son, Scott (Brenda) Morman of Glen Ullin; daughter-in-law, Mary Morman of Glen Ullin; six grandchildren, Shawn Mowder, Sarah (Jason) Cherney, Jordan Morman, Shantel Glasser, Bethany Morman, and Jaron Morman; one great-grandchild, Amelia Cherney; sisters, Erma Mosbrucker of Dickinson and Mitzi Streitmatter of Glen Ullin; and brother, Glenn Weiand of Grafton. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; son, Randy; infant granddaughter, Amy Glasser; infant siblings, Rachel, Kenneth and Lester.
