A private Liturgy of the Word Service for Leona Rice, 85, of Dickinson will be held at Stevenson Funeral. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Leona passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at Richardton Health Center after a short fight with cancer.

Leona was born June 19, 1935 in the Schefield-Gaylord, North Dakota area, the daughter of Leo and Barbara (Weiler) Billman. As a young girl, she attended country school through the eighth grade. Leona married Richard Rice on June 30, 1955 in the church at Gaylord, ND. The couple was blessed with two children Ken and Sandra. The family was raised in the meat cutting business. Leona helped Richard in their business which they ran for 25 years, retiring in 1990. Many friends were made and many stories were shared in their meat shop. Leona enjoyed cooking German Dishes, visiting with relatives, and having coffee with friends. She will be forever loved and dearly missed.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Sandra L. (Randy) Goetz of Dickinson; son, Ken (Gayenel) Rice of New Richmond, WI; grandchildren, Ryan (Summer) Goetz, Bethani (Mykel) Salazar, Olivia Rice; great-grandchildren, Dallys, Taya, Gwendalyn, Micah, Benjamin; brothers, Herb (Kathy) Billman of Dickinson, Richard Billman of WA Leo Billman of Bismarck, Joe (Darlene) Billman of Dickinson; sister, Maryann (Ed) Polensky of Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Richard (2019); parents, Leo and Barbara Billman; sister, Lorraine Frank; brother, John Billman.

Leona’s family would like to thank the Richardton Health Center for all the love and care they gave her in the short time she was there.
