Leonard entered into Heaven on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Vibra Healthcare in Mandan with his family by his bedside.
Leonard was born September 22, 1930 on the family farm near New Hradec, ND, the son Vincent and Mary (Kovash) Dvorak. He attended Catholic schools for three years before going on to country schools near the family farm for five years; traveling on the horse every day. After the eighth grade, Leonard stayed on the farm and helped his dad with the daily operations. On October 17, 1949, Leonard married Elsie Rambousek and the couple would have celebrated their 70
th
wedding anniversary this October.
Leonard and Elsie farmed until 1980 when their daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Roger Kudrna bought the family farm. Leonard and Elsie then moved to Dickinson and built a new home. In October of 2018, the couple moved to St. Benedict’s Court.
Leonard was a strong, caring and very emotional man. He especially enjoyed going to the farm before harvest to check the heads of wheat to see how full they were as well as drive around and look at the crops.
Leonard was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and Eagles, and served as trustee for the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for many years. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and whist and had to always end the game with a couple of hands of show down. Leonard loved spending time with Elsie; dancing or having friends over to their house. His family meant everything to him.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Elsie; Leonard’s son and daughter-in-law, Arnie and Connie, their sons, Chris (Mindy), their son, Wyatt; and Justin; their daughters, Dianna (Robbie), and Amber (Brian) Mueller and their children, Gaybriellea and Owen; Leonard’s daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Roger Kudrna, their daughter, Julie (Dean) Berry and their children, Abby, Jackson and Jill (Byran) Davidson, and their children Baylee and Laytyn, and their son, Darren, living in Rapid City.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mary Dvorak; brothers, Charlie (Agnes), George (Hattie) and Edward (Emma); and sister, Julia (Joe) Meduna; and great-grandson, Brooks Berry.
