A funeral service for Leonard Schneider, 88, of Glen Ullin will be 10:00 a. m. CDT, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Rites by the Lawrence Higbee Post #239 of Glen Ullin. Visitation for Leonard will be from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. MDT, Monday, June 9, 2015 with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 p. m. MDT at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND. Leonard passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Leonard Phillip Schneider was born on February 2, 1927 the son of Matt & Gertrude (Geck) Schneider in Morton County. He grew up and attended country school later graduating from the Glen Ullin High School in 1944. Leonard enlisted into the US Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged a short time later when the war ended. He later enlisted in the National Guards where he served until 1955. Leonard was married to Marian Weinberger on September 5, 1950 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church south of Glen Ullin. To this union four children were born; Randy, Rodney, Sandra and Jeff. Leonard and Marian moved to Bismarck where he began a long career with Q. B. & R in the auto parts business. The family moved to Glendive where Leonard was the assistant manager of their store. In 1966 he moved to Jamestown where he became the manager of that store. In 1976 moved to manage the Hedahls Automotive Store in Glen Ullin until his retirement in 1998. Leonard continued to make Glen Ullin his home since. He enjoyed reading and could read some books in one setting, he also enjoyed coin collecting and listening to old big band music. Leonard was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Glen Ullin and held several offices. Survivors include, three sons, Randolph Schneider, Rodney Schneider and Jeff (Kim) Schneider all of Dickinson; a daughter, Sandra Roberts and her husband, Otis; Elkhart, IN; four brothers, Jim (Micky) Schneider, Moorhead, MN, Leo (Mary Lou) Schneider, Belfield, ND, Willie (LaRae) Schneider, Rochester, MN and John Schneider, Dickinson, ND; eight sisters, Viola Weinhardt, Glen Ullin, ND, Florence Weinberger, Dickinson, ND, Irene (Don) Moffett, Fallon, MT, Bernice Walker, Lindsay, MT, Laura (Fred) Wehri, Glen Ullin, ND, Margie Ternes, Mandan, ND, Dorothy (Emil) Sauvageau, Belfield, ND and Rita Wedell, San Jose, CA; a sister-in-law, Barbara Schneider, Glen Ullin, ND; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian; and two brothers, Lawrence and Sylvester.
