Funeral service for Leonard Ezra Skogas, 82, of Miles City, will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT with Pastor Richard Evans officiating. Burial will take place in Dawson County cemetery.
Visitation for Leonard will be one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 a.m., in the funeral home on Tuesday.
Leonard passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT.
Leonard Ezra Skogas was born on October 24, 1940 in Glendive, MT, son of Telmer L. and Helen (Borntrager) Skogas. He grew up and attended Lervold country school before his family moved to Oregon where he also attended school. In 1950, the family moved back to the Lindsay area. Leonard began helping his father on the family farm and later began his career in oilfield. He worked for Mitchel’s Oilfield for many years in the Sidney and Baker area. Leonard was married to Helen Pederson and their marriage was blessed with two children, Laura and Kevin. They raised their family in the Baker area. Leonard retired in the mid 2000’s and made Baker his home. Due to failing health, he lived in Dickinson and later in Miles City for his dialysis. Leonard enjoyed vehicles and old tractors. Time spent with his children and grandchildren was always a great joy.
Leonard is survived by: a daughter, Laura of Miles City; son, Kevin (Michelle) of Baker; grandchildren, Kayla Heiser, Heather (A.J.) LaBelle, Chris Skogas, Terry (Madsen), Wes (Krystle) Madsen; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Xander, Hope and Rayce; sisters, Linda Buller of Glendive, Lois Lillie of Sidney, Joyce Skartved of Haver, and Judy Verhulst of Hettinger, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; brothers, Jerald and Donald Skogas.
