Funeral Service for Leota Elmore, 91, of Ekalaka formerly of Laurel, MT will be at 2:00 p. m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka with Tom Stieg officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Beaver Lodge Cemetery at Ekalaka. Visitation & viewing will be 10:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. on Tuesday. Leota passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010, at Dahl Memorial Healthcare in Ekalaka, MT. Leota Doris Strait was born on April 23, 1919, a daughter of James W. and Lula (Reifenberick) Strait in Ismay, MT Leota grew up in the Ismay and Plevna area where she attended schools in both communities. Following school, Leota met Herman M. Elmore, and the two were married on June 25, 1935, in Miles City, MT. To this union James, Louise, Ora, Darlene, Judy and Sharon were born. Leota and Herman raised their children in Ekalaka, where Leota worked at Dahl Memorial Healthcare. Eventually Leota and Herman moved to Roberts and Joliet before settling in Billings where they owned and operated the Green Gables Motel. Following their retirement, they moved to Laurel. In 2005, Leota moved back to Ekalaka to Dahl Memorial Healthcare Nursing Home where she has made her home since. In her spare time, Leota enjoyed quilting, gardening, her family and the quietness of every day life. Leota is survived by her two children, Louise (Jim) Crans and James Elmore; step-daughters, Bernice Gross and Carla Mae Holmes; two sons-in-law, Emmett LaBree and George Hull and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman, her four daughters, Darlene Boggs, Ora LaBree, Judy Erlenbach and Sharon Hull, her brothers, Marion, Francis and Jim Strait, her sisters, Mary Whitney and Marjorie Cline and three grandchildren.
