Funeral services for LeRoy H. “Sam” Boyd, 76, of Dickinson, are Sunday, January 5, 2003, 11:00 a. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel with Pastor Judd Winter, officiating. Visitation is Sunday one hour prior to service at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel.
LeRoy passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2003, at his home.
LeRoy H. , a son of Sam and Bessie (Meadows) Boyd, born July 7, 1926, in Mott, ND and remained in the area attending country schools. He enlisted into the US Army in 1946, and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater and being honorably discharged in 1947. After returning he worked for the Montgomery Wards. On May 16, 1956, LeRoy married Elsie Dvorak and together they moved to Minneapolis, MN where they resided for the next 22 years. While there he worked in sales and delivery. In 1978, they returned to Dickinson and Sam worked for East End Auto parts. From 1983 to 1984, he managed The Home Terrace Motel and after residing in Denver for a short period of time the couple returned to Dickinson. Sam retired in 1988 and has made Dickinson his home since.
Sam enjoyed gardening, woodworking and reading. He was a member of the American Veterans of Dickinson.
LeRoy “Sam” is survived by his wife, Elsie of Dickinson, son, Todd (Mary) Boyd of Minneapolis, MN, daughter, Elise Mastronardo of Kamuela, HI, one grandson, Christopher Boyd and one sister, Anna Marie Gorseth of Spokane, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
