Funeral Mass for LeRoy Bullinger, 76, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m. MT, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Military Rites will be presented by the American Legion Post #3 Honor Guard.  Burial will take place Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. CT in the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.


Visitation for LeRoy will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 20 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m. MT.


LeRoy passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson due to complications of COPD, surrounded by his family.


LeRoy Nicodemus Bullinger was born May 8, 1941 in Stark County, the son of Jacob and Frances (Schwindt) Bullinger. He grew up on the family farm near Manning, attended country school and graduated from Killdeer High School. LeRoy enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and was stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged in 1962, LeRoy returned to North Dakota where he worked with Carol’s dad (Nick Stroh) custom combining and then in the oilfield. He worked for Insulation Supply Company. He then went on to start his own roofing business, LeRoy Bullinger Roofing which he operated until his retirement in 2007. On October 27, 1964, LeRoy was united in marriage to Carol Stroh at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Fayette, ND. To this union two children were born: Kathleen “Kathy” and Denise. Together, the couple raised their family in Dickinson. LeRoy and Carol were able to celebrate 53 years of marriage before his passing.


In his early years, LeRoy was a great polka dancer. When he could no longer be on the dance floor he enjoyed watching Mollie B. LeRoy also enjoyed spending time watching Nascar races and football games. He was a faithful fan of the New England Patriots. Working was his hobby as he couldn’t sit still for long. LeRoy was a member of the Eagles Club, St. Anthony Club and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church where he served as an usher.


LeRoy is survived by his wife, Carol of Dickinson; daughters, Kathy (David) Hondl and Denise (Blaine) Decker, both of Dickinson; three grandchildren, Stephanie Hondl of Los Angeles, CA, Bailey Decker and Allen (Laura) Hondl all of Dickinson; two great-grandchildren, Deianira and Merrick Hondl; siblings, Eileen (Harris) Kukla of Garrison, Melvin (Myong) Bullinger of Dickinson and LuVerne (Chuck) Stroh of Oklahoma; and mother-in-law, Cecelia Stroh.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Frances Bullinger; sister, Delores and husband Ted Stroh; brother, Dennis and wife Beverly.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the ND Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th Street, Mandan, ND 58554.
