Lewis Strode

Lewis Strode, 97, Dickinson formerly of Rolla, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Memorial services will be 10 a. m. (CT) Friday, July 2, 2004, at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla. Inurnment will be in Rolla City Cemetery, Rolla, ND. Lewis Strode was born on November 2, 1906, in Marysville, Kentucky to Yancey and Alma (Chandler) Strode. Lewis spent his early years in Kentucky and in Montana. He married Evelyn Joan Mayer in Great Falls. Mont. on September 29, 1948. They moved to Rolla in 1950, where he was a business owner for 40 years. They retired and moved to Dickinson in 1991. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rolla, N. D. Lewis enjoyed playing cards, golfing and spending time with family and friends telling stories. He is survived by: his wife, Joan, Dickinson; his children, Curtis (Patsy) Strode, Denver, Colo. , Yancy Strode, Denver, Colo. ; Ginny (Delane) Wagner, Rapid City, S. D. and Mike (Diane) Strode, Dickinson; one son-in-law, Phil Davis, Minot, ND; one daughter-in-law, Jerri Strode, Kansas City, MO; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Yancy and Alma Strode; one son, William Strode; one daughter, Alma Lee Davis and one sister, Jewell Strode. Memorials are preferred: Northern Lights Humane Society, PO Box 491, Dickinson, ND 58602.
