It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Lila Herauf. After a fall in her apartment from which she was unable to recover, she passed away peacefully at a hospice facility in Naples, Florida on November 11, 2023.
Lila’s children, grandchildren and great grandchild were her greatest treasure, the pride and joy of her life.
Spending over 30 years as an early childhood development teacher (a career she loved dearly), she had a lasting impact on each and every one of the students she taught.
Lila was outgoing, loved to laugh and made friends easily resulting in many life-long friendships. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, dancing, growing flowers and watching football and baseball (especially when her children and grandchildren were on the field). She was an avid picture taker and loved to spend time crafting.
Lila rejoins her loved ones, husband, James Herauf; and her parents, William and Hulda Klundt.
Lila is survived by her sister, Vida Gorsegner; children, Kevin Herauf, Kristin Herauf Southard, Karin Herauf Martie; grandchildren Kacie Helgeson, Taylor Southard, Alyssa Weinstein, Madison Herauf and Mason Herauf; and her great grandchild, Tucker Helgeson.
Her family will forever feel her absence and miss her each and every day.
A private family service was held in Naples, Florida with a private burial planned for Lila and her husband James in Hebron, North Dakota in the upcoming spring.
