She did many things to prepare for her service to help her family through this difficult time. No small detail was omitted – Most of the following was written by her in 2011: Lilly Lorane Klos was born on July 15, 1921, the daughter of Christian and Louisa (Straub) Schuetzle in a two room house near Plevna. Her mother thought she looked like a pure white Lily flower?hence her name. She was baptized and confirmed in the Emmanuel Congregational Church in Plevna. She attended school at the Seiler and Korth Carrington country schools and then at Plevna. In Lilly?s junior year her mother became very ill and she was needed at home to care for her younger siblings. Lilly was determined to finish school and did so 18 years later through a correspondence course and by attending classes in Plevna. In 1941, Lilly married Fred Klos. They were married for more than 50 years. They made their home on the ranch south of Plevna where they raised four boys, Michael, Larry, Keith, and Jeff. Fred and Lilly moved to Baker 1979. In 1971 Larry barely survived a plane crash that took the lives of Michael, his wife and daughter and Larry?s wife. Larry lives in Texas, Keith in Wisconsin, and Jeff south of Plevna. They all have lovely wives. Lilly loved her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was very active in her church, county and State affairs. She had been president of the Montana Extension Homemakers Council, a library trustee, clerk at Fallon County Fair, Welcome Wagon volunteer, American Legion Auxilliary Chaplain, and was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher for many years. Lilly loved God?s handiwork in clouds and sunsets. She also loved to travel. She and Fred took many trips and visited every state except Alaska. They traveled to Europe and Australia. After Fred?s death, Lilly traveled to Alaska, Ireland, Scotland and the Hawaiian Islands. She was always up for an adventure. For the past 16 years she has lived in the retirement complex in Baker. Lilly loved to read and enjoyed playing games with her friends. Whether she knew them or not, Lilly always made a point of sending cards to those who had suffered a tragedy in the family. Lilly passed away peacefully at Fallon Medical Complex on March 17, 2011. She leaves behind two brothers, Reuben and Art (Viola). Two sisters, Elsie Huether and Helen (Reuben) Oberlander. Three sons, Larry (Elaine), Keith (Mary Lynn) and Jeff (Debbie); seven grandchildren, Brian (Leslie), Ethan (Ricki), Kristina (Elliott), Lindsay (Todd), Leanne (Travis), Katherine (Scott), and Cassandra and six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, their son Michael, her parents, brothers Robert and Verner. Memorials may be given to the Activities Department at FMC Nursing Home or Lutheran World Services.
