Funeral Mass for Linda Kjerstad, 58, of Dickinson is 10:00 a. m. Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Deacon Ron Wolberg will be officiating. Linda passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at her home in Dickinson. Linda was born on April 1, 1949 the daughter of Sebastian and Katherine (Schmidt) Bernhardt in Dickinson. She grew up and attended schools in Taylor and Richardton. She graduated High School from the Annunciation Priory in Bismarck. Linda attended the University of North Dakota were she received her masters in special education. She began her 31 year teaching career in the Dickinson Public School District. Linda was a very gifted teacher and had the ability to teach students with learning disabilities. She was one of the first teachers to teach in the field of special education. Along with teaching she raised three wonderful sons, Brian, Travis and Stephen as a single parent. In 2006 Linda retired from teaching and continued to make Dickinson her home. She enjoyed hosting and planning family reunions as well as quilting, needle work, embroidery and crocheting. Linda especially loved her boys, grandchildren and spending time with her dog, Bridget. She also enjoyed traveling to the casinos for a little ?chance of luck? with her many friends. Survivors include, her three sons, Brian (Stephanie) Kjerstad, Boise, ID, Travis (Amy Kittelsland) Kjerstad, Chaska, MN and Steve (Jeri Lynn) Kjerstad, Boise, ID; two brothers, Leonard (Georgene) Bernhardt, Beaverton, OR and James Bernhardt, Dickinson; five sisters, Bette (Vince) Campo, Lafayette, LA, Marie Bernhardt, Marge (Gene) Focht, Hebron, ND, Cathlene Bernhardt, Portland, OR and Ann (Rayner) Maresh, St. Cloud, MN; five grandchildren, Trevor, Jordan, Emerald, Malene and Alaric. She was preceded in death by her parents.
