Funeral Mass for Lisa M. Rixen, 55, of Richardton, will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton with Father Thomas Wordekemper OSB celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation for Lisa will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2019 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p.m.
After a courageous 15 year battle with Breast Cancer, Lisa’s fight is no more. Lisa passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 surrounded by the people who loved her most.
Lisa May was born on June 23, 1964 in Richardton, the daughter of Lynn and Rosalyn (Senn) Rixen. Growing up, she attended school in Richardton and graduated in 1982. Lisa continued her education at Dickinson State College and the University of NH, completing her masters in Environmental Science and Policy. Prior to moving to New Hampshire in 1999, she enjoyed a 16 year career with the USDA Department of Agriculture in Dickinson. Lisa enjoyed traveling and loved interacting with animals, family and friends. She loved riding horse and always had a special place in her heart for her dogs. Lisa also spent 18 years volunteering as a consultant for the Non Profit Resource Conservation and Development.
Lisa is survived by nine siblings, Marybeth Besosa, South Bethany, Delaware; Ellen (Gary) Lantz, Dickinson, ND; Carolyn Cloyd, Santa Fe, TX; Lois Wanner, Golden Valley, ND; Tom (Yvonne) Rixen, Green Bay, WI; Terry (Sandy) Rixen, Peoria, AZ; Sarah (Les) Alpert, Richardton, ND; Grace Rixen, Richardton, ND; Tracy (Deb) Rixen, Richardton, ND; step-mother, Peggy Rixen-Kuntz, Dickinson, ND; Aunt Shirley (Ken) Jones, Maplewood, MN; Uncle Emil (Marilyn) Senn, Chandler, AZ; Uncle Ervin Neff, Mercer, ND; special friend Carl Carlson, Bristol, NH; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, Ron Wanner and Jim Cloyd.
In lieu of flowers, Lisa’s family suggests memorials be made to an Animal Shelter of your choice.
