Funeral services for Llewellyn “L. B. ” Price, 95, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with Pastor Joe Natwick officiating. Burial will follow in Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation for Louie will be 2:00 p. m. – 7:00 p. m. , Monday October 19, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Family Receiving Friends will be from 5:00 p. m. – 7:00 p. m. Louie passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson with his daughter by his side. Llewellyn B. Price was born August 25, 1920 in Killdeer, North Dakota, the son of David and Mildred (Mead) Price. His family moved to Dickinson when Louie was three years old. He attended Roosevelt Grade School and Dickinson High School, graduating in 1937. At the age of 12, Louie’s father took him to the golf course and playing became his hobby from then on. After graduation, Louie attended college and played golf at DSU for two years. He won his first tournament, the NDCAC championship in 1939 in Jamestown. Louie went on to attend Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1941. He worked with his father in the Price Funeral Home until February 1942 when he enlisted in the US Navy. Louie served in the Solomon Islands in 1943, returning to the US in 1944 to begin flight training in Iowa. He was discharged in September 1945, just one month prior to finishing his training. On May 25, 1946, Louie and Lois Erdahl were united in marriage at First Congregational Church in Dickinson. He joined the National Guard with Co. K and served at Camp Rucker in Alabama from January 1951 to September 1952. Louie worked as a funeral director for most of his life. He considered it a privilege to assist families during their time of greatest need. Louie was president of the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association which honored him for 50 years of service to this community and funeral profession. He was past president of the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce, served on the Public School Board, Library Board and member of V. F. W. , Dickinson Masonic Lodge, O. E. S. past Exalted Ruler and life Member of Dickinson Elks Lodge # 1137. In 1985, Louie received the Dickinson State University Chief Award. He was also inducted in the North Dakota Golf Hall of Fame. Louie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. His warm smile, sense of humor, and positive attitude brightened the lives of those who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Louie is survived by a son: Michael (Laura) Price, Huber Heights, OH; three daughters: Linda (Kent) Yoder, Bristol, IN, Margery (James) Taylor, Bloomington, IN; Susan (Tom) Willer, Dickinson, ND; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sister, Nancene (Richard) Getchell, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Lois; brothers, David, Leslie, and Robert; sister, Beverly Price. Louie’s family suggests memorials to the Elks, St. Luke’s Home, or a charity of your choice.
