A Graveside Service for Lois Mauvee Emerson, 86, of Baker, MT and formerly of Ekalaka, MT will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at St. John?s Catholic Cemetery at Baker, MT with the Rev. Father Thomas Tobin officiating. Lois passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. In honoring Lois?s wishes, cremation has taken place. Lois Mauvee Emerson was born on February 15, 1923 in Gregory, SD a daughter of Ben and Rose (Kriss) Green. Lois grew up in Rapid City, SD where she attended grade school and high school. Following her graduation from high school, she attended college in Rapid City, earning a degree as a Nurse. Lois began her nursing career in Gillette, WY. It was there she met and later married Tom Demos. To this union Mauvee and Tom were born. Lois and Tom would later divorce. As a nurse, Lois lived and worked in Belle Fourche, SD, Elgin, ND, Baker, MT and eventually Ekalaka, MT. Lois enjoyed her career as a nurse and the many friendships she made in the five communities she worked in. While working at Dahl Memorial, Lois met George Murray Emerson, who was the owner and pharmacist at Emerson Pharmacy in Ekalaka. After a courtship, Lois and Murray were married on June 9, 1980, in Reno, NV. Lois and Murray made their home in Ekalaka, where Lois helped Murray in the pharmacy and also helped run the State of Montana liquor store in Ekalaka. After their retirement and Murray?s failing health, the two moved to Baker where they made their home. Lois was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Ekalaka and St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker. In her spare time Lois enjoyed reading and watching TV. The most important part of Lois?s life was spending time with her family, and being her grandchildren?s number one sports fan. She loved to follow her grandchildren?s sporting events and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Lois is survived by her two children, Mauvee (Mike) O?Donnell of Baker, MT and Tom (Dawn) Demos of Bakersfield, CA; one sister, Rosemary Shober of Gillette, WY; five grandchildren, Thadd (Tracie) O?Donnell, Casey (Jodie) O?Donnell, Jill (Richard) Zickefoose, Nick Demos, Bob (Devon) Demos, and 13 great-grandchildren. Her parents, Ben and Rose, her husband, Murray, two brothers, Rich Green and Harold Green and two sisters, Marie Powell and Loretta Putzier preceded her in death.
