Quade was born December 4, 1929 in Forsyth, Montana to Fred and Shirley Reinecke. Lona spent her young years in Forsyth, Baker and finally, Wibaux, Montana where she graduated from Wibaux County High School. In 1947, a charming Roland ‘Kup’ Quade returned home to Wibaux and swept young Lona off her feet. A sixty-three year-long love story began when the couple married on November 8, 1947. Lona’s full-time occupation was that of a loving, caring mother to the ten children she and Kup parented. However, over the years she was employed outside the home. One of her ventures was owning and operating a candy and cigarette vending business in Wibaux for many years. Upon purchasing the First National Bank of Ekalaka in 1967, Kup and Lona moved their family from Wibaux to Ekalaka. When the children were older, Lona assumed the assistant cashier position and was on the board of directors at the bank until her retirement in the early 1990’s. Lona was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and was active with the Carter County Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid supporter of her children’s numerous activities and was the number one baseball mom in Ekalaka for many years. Lona enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting, decoupaging, reading and getting together with her book club. She was known for her family-favorite potato salads (one with and one without) and fabulous fried chicken. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. You could always see the anticipation and excitement in her eyes whenever she knew one of them was coming to visit. She worked for days in preparation for the large family gatherings during holidays and special events, and even though she was tired when everyone went home, she wouldn’t have had it any other way. Lona passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Dahl Memorial Healthcare in Ekalaka, Montana. Lona is survived by her ten children, twenty-three grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren, Pam Burman, (Art Paulson) of Fairview, MT and daughter AnnDee (Regan)Taylor and children Morgan, Alex and KennaDee of Fairview, MT, and son Judd and children Braden and Audrey of Fairview, MT; Deanna (Dennis) Weyer of Green River, WY and son Travis (Susana) Weyer and children Maria, Daniel, and David of Budapest, Hungary, and son Jason (Nichole) Weyer and children Hannah, Olivia, Seth, Camden of Thermopolis, WY; Ted (Bonnie) Quade of Broadus, MT and son Brad (Tawnya) Quade and Aubree of Billings, MT and daughter Stacey Quade of Broadus, MT; Brian (Mary)Quade of Alamo, CA and sons Sean Quade of Redlands, CA and Nic Quade of Alamo, CA; Michael (Cindy) Quade of Ekalaka, MT and daughters Kirsten Quade of Billings, MT and Emilie Quade of Missoula, MT; Pat (Kim) Quade of Lincoln, Nebraska and son Zach Quade of Minneapolis, MN; Ronda (Ed) Miller of Gillette, WY and son Ryan (Kristin) Gross and children Kylie and Connor of Gillette, WY, daughter Sarah Gross of Omaha, Nebraska and son Matt Gross of Laramie, WY; Garth (Jill) Quade of Billings, MT and daughter Brittany Zamora and children Mason and Brooklyn of Rapid, City, SD, son Reece Quade, and daughters Rachel Quade and Camryn Quade of Billings, MT; Jana (Robbie) Fix of Ekalaka, MT and sons Sloan Fix, Tanner Fix and Caleb Fix of Ekalaka, MT; Blaise (Tricia) Quade of Rapid City, SD and daughters Bailey Quade and Madison Quade of Rapid City, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
