Mass of Christian Burial for Loretta Clara Hardy, 91 years old, of Apple Valley, CA formerly of Richardton, ND is Monday, July 7, 2003 at 10:00 a. m. (MDT) at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Richardton with Father Brian Wangler, OSB, celebrant and Deacon Melvin Hardy assisting. Internment will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation is Sunday from 9:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel continuing at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with a rosary and vigil being recited at 7:00 p. m. Loretta passed away June 29, 2003, in Apple Valley, California. Loretta was born May 13, 1912 to Joe and Mary (Braulick) Hammerschmidt. She was raised on the family farm north of Richardton. She attended country school and graduated from St. Mary?s High School. She married Ray Hardy in September 1929 in Richardton. Loretta worked as a telephone operator and later as a secretary at an Implement Dealer in Richardton. They moved to California in 1943 where she was employed at U. S. Rubber for thirty years. Ray passed away in September of 1963. Her life revolved around her family and cat named ?Skeeter?. She was a happy fun loving, along with generous soul whom will be long remembered. Loretta is survived by her four sons, Melvin R. (Virginia) of Pocatello, ID, Archie J. (Lois) of Apple Valley, CA, Fredrick N (Pauline) of Albuquerque, NM, Richard V. (Kathleen) of Los Gatos, CA; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother Joseph (Mary) Hammerschmidt of Richardton; three sisters, Rose Born, Eleanor Hoff, both of Richardton, Marie Sickler of Dickinson, two brothers-in-law, Bro. Victor Frankenhauser, OSB of Richardton, Robert Frankenhauser of Auburndale, FL and one sister-in-law, Rose Harris of El Cajon, CA. Her parents, four sisters: Gen, Florence, Freida and Louise, and one brother: Frank preceded her in death.
