Lorna Mae Wilson, 71, of Dickinson, formerly of Washington, passed away September 11, 2021 at St. Benedict’s with her daughter Wendy by her side. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later time.
Lorna Mae was born in Tacoma, WA on September 21, 1949, the daughter of Robert Calhoun and Inez (Samuelson) Shank. Growing up she attended school in Spanaway WA, graduating from Bethel School District. Many years of her life were spent in Sumner, Washington where she lived for 43 years. Lorna was married to Weldon Wilson I, and their marriage was blessed with daughter Wendy and son Weldon Wilson II. Lorna had a special love for children. She enjoyed being a preschool teacher in Washington and for many years owned and operated a preschool and childcare facility. As a business woman, she co-owned an Auto Service Tire Store with husband Weldon for a number of years also. About four years ago, with the help of her stepson, she moved to Dickinson to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and grandaughter. St. Benedict’s Health Center became her final home. Lorna loved children and animals. Trips to Medora and the badlands were a favorite pastime. Lorna loved her true crime shows and spending weekends with Wendy and family attending community events, shopping and going to movies. Lorna’s spunky and sassy personality will be dearly missed.
Lorna is survived by her daughter, Wendy (granddaughter Hailey Wilson and son-in-law Derek Nitschke), and son, Weldon Wilson II (Grandson Cameron Wilson), stepchildren Marc Wilson (Elayne) and Nikole Wilson.
Lorna was loved by many with her quick wit, playful, cheeky, full-of-spirit personality. The family would like to send a special thanks to many of the caregivers involved in her final years. Most notably, endearingly labeled “Nurse Ratchet”- Tricia, other caregivers and friends such as Jane, Brianna, Amy, Grayson, Carla, Margaret, Bonnie and hospice nurse Astro.
