Funeral Services for Lorraine B. Morland, 88, of Amidon and New England, is 2:00 p. m. , Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Lebanon Lutheran Church in Amidon, ND, with Rev. Galen Strand officiating. Burial will be later this spring in the Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2011 from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at the Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson; with a Prayer Service being held at 3:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the Lebanon Lutheran Church, Amidon, ND. Lorraine passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson. Lorraine was born October 10. 1922 the daughter of Ole and Gena (Erickson) Stenmoen in Strehlow Township, Hettinger County, New England, North Dakota. She was confirmed at Rainy Butte Lutheran Church on July 19, 1936. Lorraine attended grade school at Strehlow school and New England Public High School, graduating May 24, 1940. After graduation, Lorraine worked in New England as a bookkeeper for Herstein Garage and later for Paulsrud Trucking. She then went to Mott, ND and was an assistant to the Hettinger County Superintendent of Schools, Agnes Svihovac, doing office work. Lorraine met her best friend and love of her life in high school, Elmer C. Morland, and on December 28, 1944, they eloped to Butte, Montana. Lorranine and Elmer moved to Mott, ND after Elmer?s discharge from the Army in 1949. In 1956, they moved to Amidon, ND and took over the family farm and continued to farm until Elmer?s retirement. Elmer and Lorraine purchased a residence in New England after retirement, and they traveled back and forth to Amidon, where Lorraine always called ?Home?. Lorraine loved being on the farm in Amidon where she raised her family. She enjoyed being a house wife while working with Elmer and being his ?right hand man? in the farming/ranching operation. She loved to cook and bake and her family was her greatest treasure. Lorraine is a member of the Lebanon Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid since 1957. She served as Altar Chairman, committee member for the organization of the 75th Anniversary of the church and a member of the Heritage Club, since 1992. Lorraine is survived by her children: Linda (Cliff) Stecher, New England, ND, Geraldine (Gary) Burkhardsmeier, New England, ND and Delmer (Traci) Morland, Genoa City, WI; grandchildren; Shane (Kristen) Stecher, Shanna Stecher, Shad Kouba and Alex Morland; Great Grandchildren; McKoy Stecher and Ainsley Stecher; a brother, Gilbert Stenmoen, Bismack, ND. and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Gena Stenmoen, two sisters and brother-in-laws, Olga (Harold) Crawford and Agnes (Robert) Srb; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Alvin (Olive) Stenmoen and Lloyd (Faye) Stenmoen and a sister-in-law, Doris Stenmoen.
