Lorraine "Polly" Schantz

Funeral Mass for Lorraine “Polly” Schantz, 86, of Glen Ullin will be 11:00 a.m. CT, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Prior to the service on Wednesday, visitation will be held for Polly at 9:30 a.m., with a rosary being led at 10:00 a.m.

Lorraine “Polly” Schantz passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Polly was born January 8, 1935 to Jacob and Elizabeth Himmerick in Hazelton, ND. She graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1952. Polly married Donald Schantz in 1953 and they moved to the family farm. Together they raised two children, Sharon and Kevin. Polly enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidering, playing cards, games and baking. Her grandchildren always requested her famous caramel rolls. Polly was a member of the Women of Sacred Heart.

Polly is survived by her husband, Donald of 67 years; daughter, Sharon (Doug) Grinsteiner of Mandan; son, Kevin (Charlotte) Schantz of Glen Ullin; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Wallery of Cooperstown, many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer and Herb; sisters, Edna, Viola, Esther and Marcella.
