Louis Tysver

A Funeral Mass for Louis O. Tysver, 93, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p. m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.


Visitation for Louis will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Tuesday, September 3 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 7:00 p. m.


Louis passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center.


Louis was born January 21, 1920 on the family place near Hazen, ND the son of Morgan D. and Mathilda (Handeland) Tysver. In 1931, the family moved from Hazen to north of Killdeer. Louis began his education at Red Butte Country School, south of Hazen. He then went to Hazen High School for the next 3 ½ years. Finances were tight for the family so Louis needed to quit school and begin work. However in 2010, Louis did receive an honorary Hazen High School diploma. Louis served our country in the US Army for four years. After his honorable discharge, he went on to a career as a broadcast engineer. Louis assisted in putting the “Ham and Eggs” radio station on the air in Hazen. Louis married Monica Keller on November 22, 1949 and to their marriage, eleven children including two sets of twins, were born. Over the years Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing, airplane flying, Ham radios, and playing bingo. He cherished most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Louis is survived by his five sons, Ronald, Keith, and Don (Marcetta) all of Casper, WY, Kenneth (Phyllis) of Rawlins, WY, and Richard (Bonnie) of Dickinson; three daughters, Gloria (Martin) Hoerner of Dickinson, Darlene Ash of Casper, WY, and Bernice Tysver of Bismarck; a brother, Joe (Annie) Tysver of Scranton; a sister, Myrtle Lokken of Apache Junction, AZ; twenty-four grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Monica; three daughters, Marian, Rita, and Bev; two brothers, Melvin and David; a sister, Elma; and three grandsons; Victor Jr. , Shawn, and Shane.
