Ludwig Meduna

A funeral mass for Ludwig G. Meduna, 79, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation for Ludwig will be from 1:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Ludwig passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Ludwig was born August 27, 1935 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Clement and Emma (Jilek) Meduna. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Dickinson. In 1947, he moved with his family to a farm near Schefield. After school, Ludwig continued to help his father on the farm. On October 23, 1961 Ludwig and Edith (Dvorak) Meduna were united in marriage at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in New Hradec, ND. The couple made their home in Dickinson, where they raised their children, Ray and Michael. Ludwig continued to work on the farm until he retired in 1978. He also worked at Schnell’s Livestock for nearly 35 years. Ludwig loved gardening and fishing. Visiting with family, friends, or new acquaintances was a favorite past time of Ludwig’s. He enjoyed traveling with Edith, and driving his favorite yellow pick-up around town. Ludwig was also an avid reader, boasting dozens of magazine subscriptions. Ludwig is survived by his wife, Edith of Dickinson, ND; sons, Ray Meduna of Everett, WA, Debbie Meduna of Mt. Vernon, WA, and Michael (Stephanie) Meduna of Dickinson, ND; grandchildren, Kelly Meduna of Seattle, WA, Colby Krebs of Dickinson, ND and Kaylee Meduna of Dickinson, ND; brothers Leonard (Sandy) Meduna of Dickinson, ND and Larry (Peggy) Meduna of Dickinson, ND; and one sister, Georgianne Zastoupil of Belfield, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Laudie Meduna and one sister, Delores Mayer.
