A funeral Mass for Luella “Ella” Wagner, 88, of Hebron, will be held at 10:00 a.m. CST, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Hebron with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Cemetery.


Visitation for Ella will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 20 at the church with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m.


Ella, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her home in Hebron, surrounded by her family.


Ella was born December 10, 1928 northwest of Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Anton and Magdalena (Wagner) Baumgartner. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Strasburg. Ella was united in marriage to Ted Wagner on October 20, 1952 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg. To this union six children were born: Chuck, Carol, Terry, Rita, Claire, and Larry. Together, Ted and Ella raised their family on the family farm in Haymarsh, ND. They moved to Hebron in 1984.


Ella was a member of St. Clements Christian Mothers, Haymarsh Homemakers and was very active at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hebron.


The most important gifts Ella gave her family were her unconditional love and her strong faith in God. Her family is grateful to have spent many amazing times together. Her grandchildren will always cherish her delightful sense of humor and her Christmas tradition of making homemade ice cream.


The life skills and traditions she shared included: cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, canning and dancing. She had an amazing gift of hospitality. Her cooking and baking were enjoyed by many friends and family.


Blessed to have shared her life is her husband, Ted; children, Chuck (Peggy) Wagner of Mandan, Carol (Ken) Preskey of Bismarck, Terry (Linda) Wagner of Glen Ullin, Rita (Randy) Fischer of Elgin, Claire (Bruce) Walther of Bismarck and Larry (Stacy) Wagner of Glen Ullin; grandchildren, Karen (Joshua) Glover, Jennifer (Scott) Bina, RaeAnn Preskey, Michael (Kelsey) Wagner, Nikki (Kaleb) Klein, Stacy (Joe) Hillius, Marnie Wagner, Chelsey Fischer, Melissa Wagner, Zachary Wagner, Ryan Wagner, Marcus Wagner, Lucas Wagner, Christopher Fischer, Alexis Walther, Terry (Christina) Parkman, Christopher (Jennifer) Walther; great-grandchildren, Emma Jo Hillius, Dylan Walther, Avalie Parkman, Mason Walther and three more babies on the way; brothers, Tony Baumgartner and LeRoy Baumgartner; and sisters, Lizzie Larson, Clara Silvernagel, Anna Goldade, and Viola (Cy) Wiesbeck.


She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alois, Clarence, Andy and Edward; and sisters, Mary Bachmier, Katie Bachmier, and Sally Klein.
