A funeral service for Luke Andrew Bennett, 23, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p. m. , Monday, December 8, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with Bishop Michael Cartmill, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lake Wales, FL. Visitation for Luke will be at 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. , Monday, December 8, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a family receiving friends service from 3:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. , Sunday, December 7, 2014. Luke passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 due to injuries sustained in a car accident near Grassy Butte. Lucas Andrew Bennett was born September 13, 1991 in Ontario, OR, the son of Mark Bennett and Janet (Weideman) Billings. He grew up and attended school in Lake Wales, playing football with the Highlanders. After graduating from high school in 2011, Luke began working for the YMCA. In April 2013, he came to North Dakota and began working for MBI as a hosehand. There, Luke was given the nickname of “Cool Hand Luke”. Luke was on the road, traveling for work at the time of his death. In 2012, Luke met the love of his life, Marci, through a mutual friend. Luke enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and 4 x 4 trucks. He was very creative and enjoyed drawing. Luke was a practical joker and loved adventures. He had a way of making an impression on many people. Luke had a soft heart for animals and people less fortunate. Luke is survived by his father, Mark Bennett of OR; parents, Janet and Dean Billings, of Dickinson; brother, Adam (Megan) Bennett of Vale, OR; step-brother, Aaron Billings of Stansberry Park, UT; sisters, Wendy (Jason) Straughan of Stransberry Park UT, Katherine Bennett of Lake Wales, FL, Mary Bennett of Vale, OR, and Sarah (John) Slaug of Bartow, FL; grandmothers, Dolores Weideman of Vale, OR, and Ruth Bennett of ID; love of his life, Marci Violette of Lake Wales, FL; best friend, Cody Cannon of Lake Wales, FL; dog, Jack; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Weideman and Kermit Bennett.
