A Funeral Mass for Lydia Boltz, 98, of Dickinson formerly of Belfield will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Brandon Wolf celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Belfield.
Visitation for Lydia will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a rosary and vigil being held at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume an hour prior to the mass at the church.
Lydia passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Richardton Health Center in Richardton.
Lydia M. Hecker was born January 27, 1926 to Carl and Monica (Obrigewitch) Hecker in Belfield, North Dakota. She grew up and attended country schools in the Belfield area and then graduated from Dickinson High School. She attended one year at Dickinson State University where she received her teaching permit. Lydia taught school for four years in the Belfield area. Lydia married Raymond Boltz on August 27, 1946 in Belfield. The couple raised their family on a farm two miles east of Belfield. Lydia moved to Dickinson in 1983 where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Home Health for ten years and at St. Lukes for four years. Lydia volunteered her time for RSVP. She enjoyed playing cards, working cross word puzzles, playing Upwords, crocheting and embroidering. She made baby quilts for many of her grandchildren. Lydia was a member of RSVP and VFW Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Lydia is survived by her children, Sharon Roberts of Morrison, CO, Carolyn Boltz of Lakewood, CO, Ronald (Barbara) Boltz of Belfield, Janice (Randal) Hutzenbiler of Roundup, MT, Renita (Darby) O’Brien of South Heart, ND, Bernadine Boltz of Roundup, MT, Susan (Danny) Hutzenbiler of Belfield, Robert (Stell) Boltz of Dickinson, Jody (Jeff) Baranko of Belfield, Raymond (Heather) Boltz of Clifton Park, NY; daughter-in-law, Maureen (Rodney) Wolf of Dickinson; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Elvira (Sylvester) Schuster of Minot; sister-in-law, Bonnie Hecker of Richardton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents, Carl and Monica; three sons, James, Warren, Roger; son-in-law, Gerald Roberts; brothers, Henry, Andrew, Theodore, Leo, Barney and Adam Hecker; sister, Henrietta; grandchildren, Carlye Boltz, Maggie Boltz, Isabel O’Brien, Gabriel Rodakowski, Sherri Rodakowski; and step-mother, Lena Hecker.
