Funeral Services for Lydia Christman, 91, of Plevna, MT will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Plevna with Pastor Bruce Kolasch officiating. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Plevna. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Monday, January 7, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the Peace Lutheran Church in Plevna. Lydia passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008, at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City, MT. She was born on August 9, 1916, the daughter of Philip and Katherine (Schopp) Schweigert at Ryegate, Montana. Lydia moved with her parents as a young girl to the Plevna area where she attended the Lame Jones Country School through the 8th grade. Lydia was married to Henry Christman on December 31, 1935 in Baker. They leased a few farms before purchasing some land north of Plevna in 1942. Together they began building their home, barns and a family. Henry and Lydia farmed and ranched for the next 52 years on the same place. She enjoyed working in her garden, growing flowers and working in her yard. Lydia also enjoyed crocheting, beadwork and quilting. She was a very active member of the Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping with the Altar and working with the Lutheran Ladies and their projects. Lydia loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In 1996, Lydia, moved into Baker where she made her home until recently when she relocated to Miles City. Survivors include, two daughters, Doris Geving, Plevna, MT and Audrey Christman, Miles City, MT; a sister-in-law, Tillie Quincer, Miles City; four grandchildren, Karen (Greg) Ehman, Katy, TX, Debbie (Alvin) Buerkle, Big Timber, MT, Susan McRae, Dillon, MT and Joy (Dave) Perius, Gardiner, MT; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry, two infant sons, Kenneth Dale and Calvin Henry; five sisters, Katherine Leno, Betty Christman, Carolyn Herbst, Dorothy Bretzel and Annie Schweigert; two brothers, Philip and Fred Schweigert and three ? brothers, Jake, John and Edward Quincer and a son-in-law, Connie Geving.
