Funeral Service for Lydia Wenz, 89, of Plevna, MT will be at 10:00 a. m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Plevna, MT. Interment will follow in the Community Union Cemetery at Plevna. Visitation will be 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Thursday, July 26th, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT. Lydia passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Fallon County Medical Complex Hospital in Baker, MT. Lydia (Kron) was born to Fredrick and Elizabeth (Koppenstein) Kron on March 7, 1923, in Fundu Sarazika, Bessarabia now known today as Moldova. Lydia kept within her memories many stories of life in Romania, Poland, Austria and Germany. On Nov 21, 1949, Lydia migrated with her family to the United States and settled in the Fallon, MT area. She later became a U. S. citizen in 1987. Lydia worked in the Miles City Holy Rosary Hospital kitchen, along with other jobs like the Crossroads restaurant. Richard Wenz was looking for a German wife and mother for his two children, Edith and Robert, which he found in Lydia. Richard and Lydia were married on June 15, 1952 in Plevna, MT. They resided on the family ranch northwest of Plevna, MT. In 1956 Lydia?s brother Reinhold lost his wife in childbirth. He asked Lydia to take that child, Bertha whom she and Richard raised for 2 years. Son Alvin joined the family in 1957. Lydia enjoyed being a farm-housewife and worked hard raising her family. Gardening, selling eggs, milking cows and good German meals were some of her hobbies. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Evangelical Free church in Plevna, MT. Since Aug. of 2008 she has been a resident of Quality Personal Care in Baker, MT Lydia is survived by her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren: Edith Stein, Heather (Dave) Poskevich and Grace; Robert (Marilyn) Wenz, LuAnn (John) Unterseher, Micah and Kaley; April (Wayne) Wright, Makayla and Dawson; Nola (Mike) Rath, Lance and Luke; Alvin (Sharon) Wenz, Ryan and Kevin; two sisters, Jackie (Harold) Meidinger and Matilda (Lawrence) Wagner and numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, two brothers, Reinhold and Ted Kron; two sisters, Olga Roesler and Ida Wenz and a son-in-law, Karl Stein.
