Funeral services for Lyle Rustan, 69 of New England, ND will be 2 p. m. , Friday, February 6, 2009 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, ND with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will take place in the Rainy Butte Cemetery south of New England. Visitation will take place from 2 p. m. to 9 p. m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home Dickinson with a prayer service at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue from 8 a. m. to 11 a. m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home and continues from 12 p. m. until 2 p. m. at the church. Lyle passed away at his home southwest of New England, ND. Lyle Odin Rustan was born on the family farm in Kennedy Township, Hettinger County on February 18, 1939, to Odin and Olga (Paulson) Rustan. Lyle graduated from New England Public High School with the class of 1958. Lyle took over the family farm in 1972 and continued to live there until his death. He enjoyed working with his cattle and also enjoyed his many cats. Lyle was a member of the former Rainy Butte Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer for many years and Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church in New England. He was a lifetime member of the Dickinson Elks Lodge. He served as Kennedy Township assessor for over 30 years. He liked to bowl and was a member of various bowling leagues in New England. He was currently serving as treasurer of the Rainy Butte Cemetery Assoc. Lyle is survived by one sister, Marlene (Francis) Berres of Lewistown, MT, and one brother, Galen (Carma) of Owasso, OK, nephews, Brad (Cathy) Rustan of Owasso, OK, Brian (Erin) Rustan of Lewisville, TX, Jim (Linda) Berres of Sammamish, WA, Bob Berres of Seattle, WA , one niece, Debbie (Bill) Fry of Seattle, WA and five great nephews and two great nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Odin and Olga Rustan.
