A Memorial service for Mabel Hintz, 100, of New Salem, formerly of Hannover ND, will be 2:30 p. m. Sunday, January 26, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hannover, ND. Mabel passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND. Mabel A. Sucher was born August 23, 1913, in Fairmont, MN, the daughter of William E. and Sophie (Henke) Sucher. She grew up and attended school through the eighth grade in Oliver County, ND. On December 11, 1941, Mabel married Otto Hintz in Hannover, ND. Together, they farmed west of Hannover. They raised two daughters, Lois and Inez. In 1956, Mabel and Otto moved to New Salem. Mabel enjoyed gardening, canning jelly, quilting, playing cards, reading and visiting. She was also a member of the Hannover Homemakers Club. Mabel entered Elm Crest Manor in New Salem in 2008. Mabel was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hannover. She enjoyed a Bible study and was an honorary charter member of the St. Peter LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League). Mabel is survived by her daughters, Lois (Dale) Bornemann, Hannover, ND, and Inez Hintz, Bismarck, ND; four grandchildren, Todd Bornemann, Lisa & Glenn Gerving, Lora & Bryant Voegele, and Cindy & Rick Aaser; eight great-grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Brandi, Ty, Jamie, Alisha, Kendra and Jaxson; and one great-great-grandchild, Tamara. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; her parents; a brother, Valmer; and a grandson, Clay.
