Funeral Services for Mabel Logsdon, 94, of Baker, MT formerly of Gibson City, IL will be at 11:00 a. m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT with Pastor Reba Kolasch officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p. m. Thursday, August 7, 2008 in the family lot in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at Evansville, IN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mabel passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in Baker. Mabel Ellen Logsdon was born on May 1, 1914 a daughter of Willy Ray and Mattie Ruby (Sublett) Bridgewater in Campbellsville, KY. At a young age, Mabel moved with her family to Illinois, eventually settling in Gibson City, IL. Mabel met Oliver John Logsdon, and the two were married on October 12, 1932 in Normal, IL. After their marriage, Oliver went off to war serving his country while being stationed in Europe. Mabel went to work in various jobs making equipment and munitions for the war effort. After Oliver?s? discharge, Mabel worked for various families where she did child care, cleaning and laundering. After the birth of their only son, John, Mabel became a fulltime stay at home mom. Later on, Mabel performed custodial duties for her church in Gibson City. Mabel spent the past three years in Baker with her son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Logsdon. Mabel was the Defacto Matriarch of her family, and enjoyed keeping up on each member of her family. Mabel enjoyed writing letters and reading the Bible and participating in Bible studies. Being from Illinois, Mabel was an extremely proud supported of the Chicago Cubs baseball team and an avid University of Illinois basketball fan. Mabel loved the Lord and served Him diligently. Her greatest enjoyment in life was for her family. Mabel is survived by her son, John (Linda) Logsdon of Baker, MT; two grandchildren, Jacob Logsdon of Las Vegas, NV and Christine (John) Wik of Watertown, MN; a great-granddaughter, Lydia Wik of Watertown, MN; four sister, Ruby Davis of Gibson, IL, Alice Ross of California, Betty Madden of Gibson, City, IL and Sandra Akin of Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Jim Bridgewater of San Bernardino, CA and Chuck Bridgewater of Saybrooke, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willy Ray and Mattie Ruby, her stepmother, Maudie, her loving husband, Oliver, a sister, Virginia Breeden and two brothers, John Bridgewater and Wallace Arnette. The family request memorials be made to the American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 905 East 1st Street, Gibson City, IL 60936. Arrangements are under the care of Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
