Funeral Mass for Magdalen ?Midge? Glasser, 86, of Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, ND will be 1 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Dennis Schafer celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 am to 9 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service at 7 p.m. Magdalen passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Magdalen was born June 5, 1921 the youngest of 14 children to George and Martha Heiser on the family farm near Fryburg, ND. She grew up and attended local country school before finishing her education in Dickinson where she graduated from Model High. After high school, she worked in Dickinson and Medora waitressing before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah. It was during this time that Midge met Martin Glasser, who was from Glen Ullin, ND. They were united in marriage on August 9, 1945 in Salt Lake City. The couple returned home to North Dakota living in Bismarck for several years before returning to the Glasser family farm near Glen Ullin. When Martin reentered the service, Midge then moved to Dickinson with her girls and made their home there. When Martin was killed in Korea, Midge remained in Dickinson where she worked at Montgomery Ward. In 1960 Midge attended beauty school and started her 33 year career as a beautician. During this time she opened her own beauty parlor ?Midge?s Beauty Salon.? In 2003 she moved to Bismarck and made her home there ever since. Midge loved playing cards especially Pinochle and Skip-Bo. She enjoyed crocheting and needle point. Midge was fond of baking, reading as well as watching her favorite television programs ?Law and Order.? Magdalen is survived by two daughters: Carol (Clifford) Dobitz, Fargo, ND and Gloria (Larry) Hassebrock, Bismarck, ND; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband; Martin; nine brothers and four sisters.
