Tillie passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at her daughter?s home in Aurora. Maphalda (Tillie) E. (Fasching) Irons was born July 1, 1925, at the Fasching farm home in the Golva community. Daughter of Alfred (Fritz) Fasching and Violette Leuenberger, she attended the Carew Grade School, graduated from Golva High School in 1943 and from Dickinson State College thereafter. She taught school in Golden Valley and Wibaux Counties for 12 years. Tillie married Warren Irons in January of 1959. They had four children together, Wayne, Wesley, Vernette and Gary. Wayne and Wesley died in infancy, and Vernette (Tyler) Underwood and Gary (April) Irons both are married and reside in Aurora, CO. Tillie worked long hard hours in the farm fields, assisting her father and then her husband for many years. She perfected the art of cooking and has been well known throughout the community for a great piece of pie. She loved her God and spent many hours in worship. She was a member of the St. Mary?s Altar Society and the Alpha Birthday Club, loved crocheting and reading, and maintained her very special sense of humor throughout and to the end of her life. Tillie was faithfully dedicated to her family and friends. Even though Tillie spent the last four and one-half years in Colorado, her heart continued to call the Golva community home. She survived her husband, Warren, who passed away in 1985, but loved and missed him dearly to the end. She is also preceded in death by her father Fritz, mother Violette, brothers, Raymond and Donald, sister, Dolores Maus, sons Wayne and Wesley, and by many other family members and dear friends. Her essence of strength and wisdom will be sadly missed by her surviving daughter Vernette, son Gary, and granddaughter Jayden, as well as by extended family and all her friends.
