Marcus Thomas, age 92 of Glen Ullin, died Saturday, August 19, 2006, at the SCCI Hospital in Mandan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 10:00 AM Central Time at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt OSB, as celebrant. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4-9 at the church with the Vigil services at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin. Marcus was born March 20, 1914 at Richardton, ND the son of Adam and Melchina (Hoerner) Thomas. He was raised on the farm in the St. Joe ? Heart Butte area. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp for several years. On July 9, 1935 he married Anna Emter at St. Joseph in rural Glen Ullin. Following marriage they farmed on several farms West of St. Joe. They retired in 1976 and moved into Glen Ullin in 1982. Marcus loved to go fishing, playing cards, being with his family, and visiting with friends over coffee. He was a long time member of the Knight of Columbus. He is survived by his son: LeRoy and his wife Alice, of Missoula, MT and his daughter: Anita, also of Missoula. Marcus has five grandchildren: Charles, Perry and LeRoy Thomas, Michelle Todd, and Debbie Kobilansky as well as nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He also leaves five sisters: Gertie Emter, Glen Ullin, ND; Eva Hauck, Dickinson; Clementine Lawrence, Sacremento, CA; Eleanor Stockert, Dickinson, ND; Helen Bechtold, Glen Ullin, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in July of 1999, and his brothers: John, Nick, and Joe and an infant sister Irene.
