Margaret Mae Holman was born September 26, 1936 in Rhame, North Dakota to Ray and Irene (Stillman) Holman. She grew up in Marmarth, North Dakota with her twin sister Marjorie and brother Ardee. In the early years they were raised in a sheep wagon south of Marmarth which Margaret referred to as her first RV. Later they moved into town where her father worked for the railroad. She attended Marmarth Public School and graduated from Marmarth High School in the class of 1954. Margaret married Arthur DeGrand on September 4, 1954. To this union a son Arthur and daughter Maranda were born. They lived on Arthurs’s parent’s ranch south of Baker. Margaret and Arthur took over the ranch after his father’s death. Margaret trenched water lines while Arthur laid the pipe for many miles in the south country. In 1974 they changed to Black Angus cattle which became DeGrand Angus Ranch. After Arthur's death in 1993, she moved into town with her sister Marge. They traveled in Margaret’s motorhome, north to Alaska and south to Arizona. She loved almost every sport. You could see her and Marge at their grandchildren and great grandchildren's many activities. Margaret crocheted many blankets and in her spare time she enjoyed going to the casinos.
Margaret leaves behind her daughter, Maranda (Rod) Turley; granddaughters Amanda DeGrand, Angela DeGrand, Andrea (Cowboy) Koenigsfeld; great-grandchildren, Javon Fiance (Ellie), Tarin, Casey, Warren, and Blair; daughter-in-law, Kathy DeGrand; niece, Connie (Mike) Lohof; and nephew, Cody Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur; son, Art; parents, Ray and Irene; brother, Ardee; and sister, Marge.
