Funeral services for Margaret Hanel, 88, of Billings, MT, formerly of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Friday, January 25, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec with Father William Ruelle celebrating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation for Margaret will be Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 12:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a rosary being held at 5:00 p. m. Margaret passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Billings, MT at the Billings Clinic. Margaret M Kovash, daughter of Louis and Albina (Pavlicek) Kovash was born February 24, 1924. She grew up and attended country school in Dunn County. On November 17, 1943, Margaret and Jerry Hanel were united in marriage at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in New Hradec. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Dunn County until 1945 when they moved to Dickinson. Margaret worked as a practical nurse for St. Joseph?s Hospital until 1953 when the family moved to Livingston, MT. There she worked for Martin’s Cafe, and several other restaurants and motels and baked cakes as a hobby. In 1982, the couple retired and spent their free time traveling. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Women of the Moose and the Senior Citizens Club. On June 13, 1991, Jerry passed away and Margaret moved to Billings, MT. Margaret is survived by four sons Larry and Kathie Hanel of Alamosa, CO, Alvin and Mickey Hanel of Perkins, OK, Maynard and Bev Hanel of Burlington, IA, and Arne and Dereka Hanel of Billings, MT; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gary Tecca of Burlington, IA; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma Jablonski of Mandan; two brothers, William (Irene) Kovash, Spokane, WA, and Albert G (Joan) Kovash of Mandan, ND; and one sister-in-law, Tillie Lamey of Livingston, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Louis and Albina Kovash; one son, Joseph; one daughter, Rita; one granddaughter, Candace Tecca; three sisters, Alice Fendrick, Dorothy Hanel, Albina Samek and two brothers, Johnny and Louie Kovash.
