Margaret passed away on November 30, 2015 at the Fallon County Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Margaret Lou O’Donnell Koenig 87, of Baker, passed away on November 30, 2015 at the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home, Baker. She was born on August 11, 1928, daughter of Michael and Caroline (Hanratty) O’Donnell. Marge attended O’Donnell grade school and graduated from Baker High School. Marge and Art Koenig were married on November 10, 1946. They settled on the Koenig homestead northeast of Baker. They remained on the ranch where Marge and Art raised their family for the next 53 years. In the early years, during the winter months, Art worked in the oilfield while Marge raised the 7 kids and at times kept the ranch going. During spring, summer and fall, when Art was farming, Marge kept the kids in line at home and would load them up to take dad lunch in the field. Marge’s doors were always open to anybody that stopped by. Hot coffee and her sour cream chocolate cake were always ready. If they stayed late enough she always found enough food (fried chicken) for supper and good conversation. After the kids left home, Marge’s activities included tending bar with Art, Pink Ladies, Red Hat Ladies, and being at Art’s side during his time as county commissioner. In 1990, Marge and Art retired, purchased their first motor home and hit the road from Alaska, thru Colorado to Texas. Four motor homes and several trips later their list of friends was long. In 2002, Art passed away and Marge settled in the town of Baker. In February 2008, she entered Fallon County Nursing Home. Marge was a hard worker, she was kind and willing to help anyone. Her greatest love was Art. She loved her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and all her family. Marge never wanted much for herself, the kids always came first. Marge is survived by her brother, Herb of Baker MT; three daughters, Lynda (Ceph) Jones of Torrington, WY, Margaret Harris of Anchorage, AK, Jacklen Shonka of Parker CO; three sons, Richard (Linda) Koenig of Parker CO, Howard (Michele) Koenig of Kenai, AK, Steven (Carol) Koenig of Walcott, ND; eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
