Margaret Schmidt

Margaret Schmidt, age 88, Dickinson passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. She was born October 14, 1915 at Richardton, the daughter of Simon and Katherine (Weiler) Boespflug. She grew up in Richardton and rural Mott where she worked on the family farm. Margaret was married to Mike Schmidt at St. Placidus Catholic Church, rural Mott, ND on November 17, 1936 and just had their 67th anniversary. Together they raised their family on a farm Northeast of Mott. They retired in 1979 when they built a home and moved into Mott. In 1989 they moved to Dickinson where they had made their home since. Due to failing health, Margaret entered the St. Benedict?s Health Center in 1994. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary as a Gold Star Mother. While living in Mott, she was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, Mott and the Ladies Guild there. Later, she was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Richardton. Margaret enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and caring for her children and grandchildren. Survivor include her husband, Mike of Dickinson; three sons: Donald (Joan) Schmidt, St. Louis, MO, Melvern (Linda) Schmidt, Richardton, and James Schmidt, Dickinson; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Schmidt; a daughter, Vernice Frank; a daughter-in-law, Margorie Schmidt; three brothers and three sisters.
