Margie passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in Baker. Margie May Pratt was born a daughter of Thomas Marvin and Julia Eleanor (Liga) Stroud on November 17, 1927 in Baker, MT. At the age of six, Margie and her family moved to the Bitterroot Valley in western Montana. Margie attended school in the Bitterroot Valley. After finishing school, Margie lived in various places in eastern Montana, eventually settling in Baker. Margie met Harry W. Pratt, and the two were married on December 14, 1960 in Baker. Margie and Harry lived on the Pratt homestead north of Baker by Cap Rock. Margie enjoyed being a rancher, where she raised chickens, peacocks and other small animals. Margie?s animals were all pets rather than livestock. When Margie would come out into the yard, the animals would run to her and squat down to allow her to pick them up. Margie was also known by her family for her many quilts she made for them. Every quilt or new shirt for Margie or Harry was sewn on a Singer Treadle sewing machine. Margie?s other crafting abilities included woodworking and building bird houses. In the summer, Margie and Harry raised sheep for the wool. They sold eggs to folks in town and they also did various maintenance and odd jobs for friends in Baker. Margie and Harry were pioneers in their own time, living on the ranch without telephone, running water or electricity. They very much enjoyed their simple and fulfilling life they had. Due to Harry?s failing health, Margie and Harry left the ranch in 2000 and moved into Baker where Margie has made her home since. Margie is survived by her son, Thomas (Linda) Graham, Springfield, OR; a granddaughter, Kathleen Marrs, Eugene, OR; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Marrs and Logan Marrs, Eugene, OR; a sister, Donna (Doc) Collins, Missoula, MT and numerous nieces and nephews, including Jerry (JoDee) Pratt of Baker, MT. Her parents, Thomas and Julia, her husband, Harry and her two brothers, Elroy Stroud and Bob Stroud preceded her in death. Arrangements are under the care of Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
